AIDT Maritime Training Center - Free Classes for Qualified Candidates - AIDT Maritime Training Center
The AIDT Maritime Training Center provides training to qualified candidates who
are interested in obtaining skills necessary for employment in the maritime and
related industries throughout Alabama. The program began in 2007. Instruction
includes day and evening welding classes held at the Mobile, Alabama campus.
Some of the companies that are working together with AIDT in furthering maritime
training for interested candidates include Austal USA, BAE Systems, C & G
Boatworks, and Signal International.  
The training is free, provided by AIDT. Candidates must be at least 18 years old
and eligible for legal employment in the United States. For more details about their

Maritime Training Center. Class sizes are limited to
32 students. Welding classes for individuals cover FCAW (flux core welding),
SMAW (shielded metal arc welding or stick welding), GMAW (gas metal arc
welding or aluminum welding), and shipfitting.
Additional courses are also available for employees of companies registered
with the program. This covers forklift training, crane training, and OSHA training.
Program instructors are certified by the American Welding Society in welding
inspection, supervision, and instruction. The training center also has OSHA
