Castor and Pollux are the twins in
the constellation
Gemini. In Greek
mythology, they are half brothers
who have the same mother but
different fathers. Pollux was
immortal but Castor was mortal.
When Castor was slain, Pollux
could not come to terms with the
loss. Zeus transformed them into
stars where they remain together
for eternity. They are brothers of
Helen of Troy and also regarded
as the protector of sailors (being
associated with St. Elmo’s Fire)
Helen of Troy, at left, was the sister
of both Castor & Pollux
